Marinades

Marinades can add flavor to an otherwise bland fish. However, be sure not to marinate too long or the fish will start to stink. Thirty minutes is all you need to create a tasty and tender meal. Read on to learn how to marinate fish for dinner.

1 Mix your marinade ingredients. Consider fresh chopped mango and soy sauce or fresh squeezed lime or lemon juice. Separate into two portions. One portion will be used while the fish is cooking, the other will be spread on after it is cooked.

2 Take fish out from package. Read the label to see how long you should cook the fish. Decide whether you are going to bake or broil. Lightly rinse the fish. Pat fish dry with a paper towel.

3 Dowse fish in one portion of the marinade. Flip the fish so that both sides are coated with the marinade.

4 Put in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven (some ovens take longer than others) for about 15 minutes after putting the fish in the refrigerator.

5 After the 30 minutes have passed, take fish out and bake for 15 to 20 minutes (depending on fish thickness and type of fish) or broil. Be sure to follow the instructions on the package.

6 After the fish is finished baking or broiling, use a basting brush to spread the second portion of marinade on top of the fish. Fish soaks up marinade, so this extra portion will give the fish extra flavor.
